It is a breeding and modifying agent in casting.Barium effectively reduces the vapor pressure of calcium within the steelmaking temperature range and increases the solubility of calcium in molten steel. Compared with silicon calcium alloy, when using silicon calcium barium alloy as a calcium source added to molten steel, even if the amount of calcium added is half of that of silicon calcium alloy, the calcium content in the molten steel is about twice that of silicon calcium alloy, and the stability of calcium in the molten steel is significantly improved.
